17 months old

Finn is now 17 months old!
Sorry for the delay in posting about it.  Finn has been ill, and then healthy, and then ill, and then ill again... I will be so happy when this season of sickness is over.

Which also means there is not too much to post about - but I will do my best :)

Here are his pictures side by side:

And some outtakes:

He is still not walking.  It's been nearly three months now since his first steps... so it's a bit frustrating.  Especially because I feel like he CAN do it, he just... doesn't.  I don't know why.  He used to think it was a fun game to try as well, and to walk back and forth between me and James.  But now, if we try, he just cries at the suggestion... So I think he's bored with it and doesn't care enough to keep trying.  Especially because he's quicker when he crawls.  And it's much more fun for him to hold our hands while he goes out and about.  Ah well - it will happen when it happens!
He's also a bit bored of talking, seemingly.  So he hasn't come out with any new words, really.  But he KNOWS a lot more.  He surprised me just today when I asked him about body parts.  He had already learnt 'head' but today he just kept going - and also pointed to his shoulders, knees, toes, eyes, ears, mouth and nose!  Who knew?!  But it means we have to be careful around him, and have started to have to find synonyms for some words like "outside" and "shoes" and "coat" etc.

It's been very very cold out lately.  But we still prefer to use the sling rather than the pushchair, especially to take Finn to and from nursery.  So I made a special panel for our coats!  I think it's pretty cool - and it keeps us all toasty warm.

But it means that James and I have to wear matching coats so that the zipper works for both of us... Here's a fabulous family portrait:

We also braved the cold to go back to the city farm!
He was very excited this time.  He kept pointing at all the animals and rushing to see the next one.  We saw cows and goats...

And sheep and pigs...

And rabbits and chickens...

And a yellow hose...

We also had Finn's good friend Lily come around (and her parents) for lunch.  We had managed to get another secondhand table chair (James found it, actually, and I scrubbed it super clean!). We made quite the happy gathering, with the most important people at the heads of the table :)
Finn and Lily had lots of fun - even though most of the time they were playing "together" it was actually just Finn pulling out each of his toys in turn and Lily happily eating a bowl of peas!

Finn has some fun new toys and games.  One huge favourite at the moment is his box of buttons.  And recently he discovered a new way to play with them - (and made an excellent face in the process!)

He also has a huge love of being naked and will often do his best to crawl off as he's being changed in order to play elsewhere...

He's been sleeping a lot better these days (when he's feeling well, of course - which hasn't been too often lately)... but one of his favourite sleeping positions does not seem at all comfortable!

And lastly, here are a couple of my favourite pictures of Finn brushing his teeth on his new stool... enjoy!
