But it's sorted now. Here is December. James has already written January and we'll post it in a couple days. And February will be right on time (ish)!
So, in the name of sorting this out (I still have to WRITE this post of course) I'm going to go picture heavy and writing little. So get yourself prepared for an epic amount of pictures...
Firstly, the monthly pictures side by side. This is what they looked like at the end of December:

Next up, most of December was spent in America. But here are some from my phone at the very beginning of the month:

On to America!!!
The flight there was a bit dreadful. We were all a bit ill before we set off, as you can see above. To the point that I was really starting to question if we were being really irresponsible taking Orry on a plane with how stuffy and congested he was. But he seemed ok on the morning so I put my worries to the side and we went. He was ok-ish with the snottiness but had bad diarrhoea which kept leaking out of his nappy all over his clothes. I went through all of the spares I had with me and came back to my seat to say the jinxing words to James: "let's hope he doesn't poo again, I'm out of spare clothes!" so no, he didn't poo - but five minutes later he projectile vomited all over me and all over him. It was disgusting. Because I didn't have any spare clothes we just ended up stripping him down and wrapping him in a blanket for the rest of the flight. siiigh. And no such hope for me! Luckily we had to collect and re-check our bags during our layover so we were able to all change once we landed. But there were a fair few uncomfortable hours before that happened. siiiigh. Finn was alright! He had one big meltdown when we told him he needed a nap, but other than that he was really really good. I'm glad we have raised such a good patient traveller! And again, people complimented us after the flight. Which never fails to make me smile - especially after a long stressful flight. But anyway! We got there! And we did lots of fun things.
Firstly, we met lots of new people:
Caitlin LOVED 'her baby'. She would hold him all day if she could :) |
It was fantastic having so many people around to spend time with. My siblings all came and at one point we were a massively full house - 2 parents, 4 siblings, 4 partners, 4 children, 2 dogs, 3 rabbits, and a parrot! It was chaotic but so joyful and full of love. I'm so thankful that everyone's plans could overlap like that. It's been awhile since we were all together, much less all sharing the same house! So needless to say we got up to lots and lots of fun things...
(here comes picture overload!!)

Riding a "train" around the mall |

Watching Frozen... again... |
Helping out:
We were making our Christmas stockings! Orry's is blue. Finn's is yellow. He still LOVES yellow. |
Playing games:
Playing outside:
Uncle Matt got a 'quadcopter' which amazed and delighted... |
Making stuff like a Gingerbread House and Mince Pies (our introduction to British traditions... but we let the kids choose their cutter for the top, hence the stars and... hands... and... gerbils...)
Getting a haircut
Hanging out with cousins
Bath time, often shared by all!
'helping' got Finn and Caitlin nearly as wet as Orry... hence the toplessness... |
Going to the zoo
Brilliant matching hats hand crafted by my equally brilliant sister :) |

Christmas Crackers were a curiosity to the Americans - especially all the jokes that didn't make sense to them! |
Father Christmas ate some Mince Pie |
We played silly games at my Grandparent's house... |
And Finn got a go on my Grandpa's organ!! |
It was all so amazing. And came just when I needed it. I was finding having two at once so overwhelming. And just when I hit the point where I really thought I couldn't carry on I was surrounded by support on all sides. My mom would take Orry in the mornings so I could sleep, My dad would play with Finn (for tedious HOURS) so I could focus on Orry, My sisters and brother would take turns entertaining and I actually got to do some things for myself again (sewing! yay!). I slowly felt my sanity return and by the time we went back to London I felt stronger and ready to jump back in again. Things I know: Two kids is HARD. My family is AMAZING.
It really was more than just a great holiday or a lovely Christmas. It was a little glorious bubble of time that I will remember with fondness for years to come.
So much love to you all.
