... taking up the fire-place as a normal place to hang out:
... or wearing odd Postman Pat masks at the Manx playgroup on Monday mornings:
... or deciding that you have to wear a kilt to bed every night for nearly a week:
... or deciding that your mouth is a castle full of people inside:
... or falling asleep clutching a bucket of plastic rings:
... or turfing out the recycling alcove to put on a rockstar performance:
All very odd.
The month also brought great achievements, such as Orry learning how to jump.
It may not sound like a lot, but until now Orry never actually achieved having both feet in the air at the same time. A jump was previously just a raised leg and theatrical arms. But Finn was delighted to have taught Orry how to achieve this:
Very impressive as a first foray into jumping!
Also a great achievement was Cori going for a walk with Orry, up to Corrin's Folly on the hill over the town, for the first time in her life. They had a great time:
It was also great for wearing out an Orry, even for a rare afternoon nap deep enough to allow him to be put into bed. It allowed Cori a very happy relax-time, thought it was much regretted at the extended bed-time later on in the day!
Cori was also especially delighted that he walk-day coincided with the day when my mum dropped by unannounced - Cori was very pleased to be able to smugly relate what she'd been up to that morning!
Other things which happened in this month included Finn having great applied-fun working on a book of/about David Hockney which he got from a friend of his. A lovely weekend activity:
We found mould on the back of the chest of drawers thing in the craft room. Not good!
Cori recovered a stool, with the help of the boys - hence the unusual choice of patterns on the one item of furniture:
Our hop-tu-naa moots grew old:
Cori & Orry went to Laxey and check out The Shed cafe we've heard about online. As is required, they sat happily under the blankets admiring the sea as Cori drank coffee and Orry, curiously, decided to enjoy an ice-lolly:
(Of course, as you'll see, Orry didn't want to hold the sticky thing - that's obviously a job for Cori!)
Orry delighted in being able to help with the food preparation, thanks to the novelty new children's knives:
(We've not used them too much since, as we end up having to do even more prep, to prep for the kids' involvement!)
We had a nice Thanksgiving with Finbar & Big Orry (who liked the turkey!) & their mum:
Orry went for more food trials at the hospital. These were to test how he is now with hazelnuts. It turns out that he is not allergic to them, but it was a shame that he had to lie like this for five hours to find out!
We've still not got round to potty-training Orry. We were once telling ourselves that there were things that kept getting in the way, but it appears that we're now just lazy. Humph. We suggest to Orry that he tries wearing Big Boy Pants, but he is against the idea, so we wait. But very occasionally he decides that he wants to use the potty. Like here:
He declared to Cori that he wanted the potty, so Cori delightedly got it out and set him up. But once sat down, Orry banished Cori from the room, saying: "Go away and when you come back you'll be surprised by a poop!" Hence the sneaked photo. and, sure enough 15 minutes later, he'd done the job and was very pleased with himself.
But that was that - he's not wanted to do it since!
And that is that for November - a great month! But, to close, here is two final pictures, of a silly Orry:
