It's lovely that the boys can still have a great time in weather like this - as long as we go with friends - if we tried it by ourselves, it would be a world of whining, we're sure!
Happily the weather was better for pancake day in Maughold (just):
Orry was "too shy" to race this year, which was a bit surprising, but we left him to it. He was sorry to have missed out, but then he got pancakes (his own ones, without egg and milk, which we pre-made at home).
Finn was delighted to come second in his race, for the second year running ( a fact that he found delightful), but he was lover-the-moon that one of the cousins won his race, as you can see:
Talking of those children in inclement weather, here is Orry enjoying his first (rather windy & cold) trip to the shore of the year:
Ridiculous child!
This is where we should go on to some of Orry's silliness, but we've not seen enough of Oshin so far, so here he is showing off his new favourite thing, which is kicking about (which remains here unedited, just to demonstrate the constant chatter which comes from the boys, and how Oshin loves them so):
... Some rather odd play with Play Doh & the animals at the Manx playgroup (why you can't see them in the first picture is explained when a few are revealed in the second picture)...
... A very beautiful bag found at the tip...
... And some rather silly alphabet spaghetti eating:
If you can't make out the fine word Orry has made for himself to be eating there, here he is to explain it:
Also beautifully silly is Orry's pronunciation of a famous Russian composer who they had been admiring on the CD of the book we're reading in the car (see previous month's posts):
But now that you have had that silliness, can you handle this cuteness?!
Cori realised that one of her favourite hats that Finn enjoyed in his babyhood in London was a flat cap, which we now don't have. So she made him one, which was ace.
He's cute though, with our without a hat:
There was a nice picture in there of Oshin in his seat (without us in his line of sight, or he'd have been whining to be in our arms) and Finn quietly sat with a book.
The boys continue to enjoy books and Saturday morning trips to the library are lovely things (even if they do sometimes decide to dress up in terrorist-like 'disguise'):
Having made a lower-level one for Orry a while ago, we thought we'd make a game around the house in the style of the puzzle adventure books they enjoy reading. We got it a little wrong for Orry's level, and we didn't make it very well (it was 80% fun, rather than 100%), but it was still a nice thing to do:
This is probably a reasonable place to close off this post, but before we do, here are two rather frivolous films made to test out a new bit of kit bought for my work, which the boys had great fun with:
