Monday 11th May
Besides the usual school work, today's highlight was the allotment & how dirty Oshin managed to joyfully get himself!Part of the trip to the allotment was to water and weed, but another part was to do a bit of Orry school work, to gather in pictures of things in nature of particular colours - they did a very good job:
Tuesday 12th May
Tuesday is Finn's chatting to his class on the computer day, which he enjoys immensely.
Beyond that, the biggest thing of today was that Cori went on her fortnightly food shop to Douglas. You can imagine the difference between the meagerness of food before (after a two-week no-shop), and the experimental fresh joy of after!
She went before dinner, leaving me to this boghtynid over dinner, with Oshin trying out his fake laugh on everyone, which the boys enjoyed enormously:
If you are a glutton for silly children, a longer version of this is here.
Wednesday 13th May
Their work today included finishing Orry's colour picture and doing 'opposite' pictures:
Oshin has decided that he likes to wear his older brother's pants over the top of his clothes - it's very odd:
Cori is still working avidly on her blanket:
Here is a video of Oshin drawing, which is quite a new thing with him:
Thursday 14th May
Cori's birthday!
It was certainly a low-key affair, but nice all the same (I hope I can say for her!).
I took the day off work and stepped in for Cori to school the kids in the morning as she did her own thing elsewhere:
Lunch she had prepared herself to be like the usual birthday lunch from Green's - I think she did a pretty good job!
(In actual fact, it was not like Green's salad, but it was still good. - But it does make us want Green's to return even more!)
Then we treated ourselves to a trip to the allotment to do some planting:
Oshin was very helpful pushing the trolley back:
Then it was time for Cori's Very American self-made strawberry pie (which the boys adore and had Orry wishing that it was someone's birthday every day!):
Friday 15th May
Word searches were a part of their work today:
The tent & balls came out to entertain Oshin (and to make even more tidying up for us):
Two mates sharing a book:
After the usual work in the morning, the afternoon task today was very nice - making lavendar pouches to help sleep. This was suggested by Cori, to Orry's complaining that he cannot sleep. They had a great time finally being allowed to use the sewing machine (a little) and stuffing the little pouches they made. Everyone got one, including granny:
Whilst the sewing machine was out, Cori also managed to finish these lovely things for Oshin:
Saturday 16th May
We were good and got out to the allotment early on Saturday, safely far ahead of Oshin's nap.
But, what is more, for the first time in months, we saw granny!
The weather was lovely, so Finn and I took advantage of it by going out for a walk straight after lunch, as Oshin was still asleep. It was lovely walking around Dalby and Kerroodhoo:
Whilst we were away, Cori finished her monumental task of the blanket:
It is worthwhile pausing to force the point that this really was a monumental task for her. It had been on her To Do list for years, but she had almost given up hope that it would actually get done, so far away did it seem. Pulling together pieces of the boys', our and even Cori's parents' lives, it is an enormous task, and now it is done.
Jeant dy mie, Cori!
Sunday 17th May
We were far less adventurous today. We did, however, watch a film about how to draw Totoro:
We also drew some lovely comics inspired by that (Orry first, then Finn):
Cori's adventure in Green's inspired cooking brought homity pies today, which were marvellous:
... Which is a suitable place to conclude the week!
