Tuesday 14th April
Finn's diary tells us that they did a maths sheet (together, impressively, again)...
... Train tracks, Minecraft (during Oshin's nap, as I worked upstairs), Smoothies (which they forgot about me for, so I only got a sip of theirs which they brought up to me!), exercise and Tin Tin (on the big screen before bed).
No pictures though, sorry!
Wednesday 15th April
There were more trains today, which Oshin was involved in, requiring Cori to populate the trains with the finger puppets that made a rare outing from their box...
At lunch, Cori was crafting away upstairs, so I came down to make sandwiches. I didn't consult the boys on what they wanted, as this is where I found them:
They were quietly listening to an audio book as they read books and drew inside. I didn't interrupt their happiness and merely passed the sandwiches in silently when they were ready.
After my work and exercise with Joe Wicks, we got out, in the weather, which is constantly wonderful these days:
Thursday 16th April:
Since getting Minecraft, they've started designing their own game, which went on for days, but has just about petered out now. Here are some of the lovely designs:
Cori's quilt is comping together masterfully - it is something she is justifiably very proud of:
They boys built a den, which they were delighted to hide themselves in by increasing levels:
It was nothing to do with us, but they decided that there should be a drawing competition, and so they agreed between themselves the things were they were draw and set to it. And the end of it, they presented their work to Cori and she had to judge the winner... it was a draw:
(Orry's was the top, and Finn's the lower, if you were wondering).
Here's Oshin looking ace:
Before dinner the boys playing the What's in the Sock game, which they enjoy (trying to find the object delivered from a card etc.).
After exercising, we tend to watch a bit of BBC Teach on YouTube - fun learning films. We have been working through a short series of three on chemistry, which they didn't grasp too much of, but which they all loved:
Having had the tent up, they then slept the night in it, in the lounge. Inevitably, they messed around for 20 minutes, but they settled in ok, and we didn't have them waking us all up in the night as they were too frightened. - Success!
Friday 17th April
Finn's diary beings for Friday with 'A lot of Duplo' - like this:
We were humoured to listen into their chatter over the Duplo and hear Finn telling Orry that he was making an 'exoskeleton' - and here it is:
Here is Oshin happily milling around the Duploing (happy mainly because he's got food!):
A lot of puzzles were done today also, but we don't have any pictures of that - sorry. Puzzles for the older, and the younger.
Finn and Orry interrupted me in the work room (previously known as the craft room, or spare room, where I now work). They had an official announcement to make - somebody had lost their pants and they were looking to find them:
They declared that it was Mama who had lost her pants, in the road, and went off to find her - oddballs!
Orry had claimed a cast off piece of Cori's blanket, and he spent some time today secretly making a very nice little envelope to keep it in:
We didn't get out today, but we exercised, like every day.
Saturday 18th April
Today was meant to be Cori sneaking away to claim some time to herself, but Oshin dropped the play house on his toe in the morning and was in a foul mood from then on, so she never got away. The toe is black around the base of the nail, and we suspect that it might be coming off.
Having prepared some of it last weekend, today was mainly taken up working on a film about Godred Crovan with the boys.
It started by then searching following clues to gather in the fact notes they had to work out about this Norse King of the Isle of Man:
We then chatted through the facts and his life, and then set to planning a News broadcast about the Battle of Skyhill, when he won the Isle of Man in 1079:
Orry then felt the need to write out the words to the song we planned... even though it wasn't actually that technical a thing...!
During this time Cori was keeping Oshin entertained in a ball pit next door:
Then we got into costume, including Oshin, even though he wasn't actually called upon to be a Where's Wally train driver!
Then we set to filming this masterpiece:
... A masterpiece indeed, we think you'll agree!
(It's nice having the work computer at home to help out editing things like this!)
Tragedy hit after this, when we all headed out for a walk...
Here are the lovely thoughtless parts of the walk:
It was after we met and chatted to one of Orry's classmates (from over the road, at a safe distance), that he realised that he no longer had Goldie (his soft toy) who had left the house with. We retraced our footsteps and then returned home sadly without her.
Here is her larger friend, Uni, for reference:
When we got in Orry sat at his desk and set to creating his Lost Poster for the beloved Goldie:
Meanwhile, Cori posted about it on a Peel Facebook group. And, sure enough, within about 10 minutes someone reported that they'd seen her within 10 metres of our flat. Cori dashed out and retrieved her, and she was back in Orry's delighted arms before he was in bed. - We like Peel!
Sunday 19th April
Realising that the Manx in the Godred film of yesterday seemed to have slid from the Teeval one of a week or so ago, I thought that it would be good to work on something from a prepared Manx text.
Happily, I have borrowed a few Manx books from work for the kids to read, one of which is Manx Fairy Tales. So we made a film of this.
I had hoped to make it easier, or at least different, to the day before. But it was actually much more editing work for me after everyone was in bed. However, it is another fine film (with a lot of Mooinjer Veggey riding on horses through the barn!):
(If you're interested to know the story, it's here: The Lost Wife of Ballaleece).
Meanwhile, held up waiting for backing for her blanket to arrive in the post, Cori started some dungarees:
Oshin played cars:
And we all did a longer, Frozen themed yoga (no Joe Wicks at the weekend):
When Oshin gets hungry (which is generally when he finds Cori in the kitchen), he'll start shouting and taking things to the table to get ready. This would be very cute, if it wasn't for the shouting!
He also likes to play in the cupboards.
Today Oshin decided to take all the spices and put them on his try - we don't know why - it was a very serious job!
It would be very cute if it wasn't for the shouting and crying that will follow if the food isn't there ready to his schedule!
And, with a bath, the week was done. Done!
